Some things to consider…

Always wear a seat belt – One quarter of all forklift accidents are caused due to a forklift truck tipping over. Make sure that your forklift is well maintained. Each forklift is maintained according to the manufacturer’s specifications. Make sure speed limits are observed and enforced. Reduce speed to walking pace taking into consideration congestion, vision, other vehicles and pedestrians. Obstacles – An untidy warehouse is a nightmare for a forklift truck operator. Obstacles such as pallets, stock or other equipment are common occurrences in busy warehouses. Never use a mobile phone whilst operating a forklift truck – EVER!
