TIME THIEVES – they’re all around us…whether it’s getting distracted while working on your computer and going off and look at some shopping web site…for others it’s our mobile phone/cellphone but the biggest Time Thieve of all is the TV! It’s so easy to flop into the armchair and say I deserve a rest and go through every channel looking for something to occupy your mind. Where as you could be educating yourself or launching your dream product/web site/iPhone app.
I have to admit I’ve succumbed to sitting in front of the TV at the end of the day – and only just realised what a load of crap is on there. So from now I’m going to make an effort to get outside – especially now the nights are getting lighter here in the UK.
It was fairly difficult finding some ‘Time Thieves’ quotes but I got a few…
Friends are thieves of time. ~ Francis Bacon
“Procastination is the thief of time.” ~ Joseph Heller
“He was always late on principle, his principle being that punctuality is the thief of time.” ~ Oscar Wilde
‘Go with your strengths. You’ll become even stronger as a result.’
When you love what you do you will never know the tiresome burden of boredom in your life. This is because you are now operating from a position of strength. Those who do this live above, not under, circumstances. They are free to make decisions for their own life because they like who they are, they know who they are and they believe in who they are. Trust your judgment. Take risks. Spread your wings. Experiment. Venture into unknown territory. Try something different. Eat a flavor of ice-cream you’ve never tasted before. Drive a route that you’ve never driven. Fly a kite. Ride a bike. Go fishing. Do it and feel the difference and feel the enstrengthening power that is flowing through your veins.
We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak.
I can’t remember who that quote was by – but he was certainly right 110%! Here’s a cartoon of a good listener and some quotes that I found while surfing around…
Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.
Winston Churchill
Listening well is as powerful a means of communication and influence as to talk well.
John Marshall
Listening well is as powerful a means of communication and influence as to talk well.
John Marshall
The greatest motivational act one person can do for another is to listen.
Roy E. Moody
When commissioning cartoons… Pick TWO of the three options!
Good+Fast = Expensive Choose this and I’ll postpone every other project on my drawing board, my round of golf or give up my footy match ticket and work day and night to get your job done. It WILL NOT BE CHEAP though!
Good+Cheap = Slow Choose good and cheap and I’ll still do a great job at a discounted price. But you’ll have to be patient while I fit you in after my higher paying clients, updating my web site, going down the gym, my footy matches, rounds of golf and liquid lunches!
Fast+Cheap = Inferior Choose this option at your peril. It will still be delivered on time but it will be inferior, as many corners as possible will be cut. You know the saying ‘You get what you pay for!’ The least favorable option in my opinion!
