A-Z Of Motivation, The Heart Of Self Improvement

Pain may sometimes be the reason why people change. Getting flunked grades make us realize that we need to study. Debts remind us of our inability to look for a source of income. Being humiliated gives us the ‘push’ to speak up and fight for ourselves to save our face from the next embarrassments. It may be a bitter experience, a friend’s tragic story, a great movie, or an inspiring book that will help us get up and get just the right amount of motivation we need in order to improve ourselves.

With the countless negativities the world brings about, how do we keep motivated? Try on the tips I prepared from A to Z

A – Achieve your dreams. Avoid negative people, things and places. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

B – Believe in your self, and in what you can do.

C – Consider things on every angle and aspect. Motivation comes from determination. To be able to understand life, you should feel the sun from both sides.

D – Don’t give up and don’t give in. Thomas Edison failed once, twice, more than thrice before he came up with his invention and perfected the incandescent light bulb. Make motivation as your steering wheel.

E – Enjoy. Work as if you don’t need money. Dance as if nobody’s watching. Love as if you never cried. Learn as if you’ll live forever. Motivation takes place when people are happy.

F – Family and Friends are life’s greatest ‘F’ treasures. Don’t loose sight of them.

G – Give more than what is enough. Where does motivation and self improvement take place at work? At home? At school? When you exert extra effort in doing things.

H – Hang on to your dreams. They may dangle in there for a moment, but these little stars will be your driving force.

I – Ignore those who try to destroy you. Don’t let other people to get the best of you. Stay out of toxic people the kind of friends who hates to hear about your success.

J – Just be yourself. The key to success is to be yourself. And the key to failure is to try to please everyone.

K-  Keep trying no matter how hard life may seem. When a person is motivated, eventually he sees a harsh life finally clearing out, paving the way to self improvement.

L – Learn to love your self. Now isn’t that easy?

M – Make things happen. Motivation is when your dreams are put into work clothes.

N – Never lie, cheat or steal. Always play a fair game.

O – Open your eyes. People should learn the horse attitude and horse sense. They see things in 2 ways how they want things to be, and how they should be.

P – Practice makes perfect. Practice is about motivation. It lets us learn repertoire and ways on how can we recover from our mistakes.

Q – Quitters never win. And winners never quit. So, choose your fate are you going to be a quitter? Or a winner?

R – Ready yourself. Motivation is also about preparation. We must hear the little voice within us telling us to get started before others will get on their feet and try to push us around. Remember, it wasn’t raining when Noah build the ark.

S – Stop procrastinating.

T – Take control of your life. Discipline or self control jives synonymously with motivation. Both are key factors in self improvement.

U – Understand others. If you know very well how to talk, you should also learn how to listen. Yearn to understand first, and to be understood the second.

V – Visualize it. Motivation without vision is like a boat on a dry land.

W – Want it more than anything. Dreaming means believing. And to believe is something that is rooted out from the roots of motivation and self improvement.

X – X Factor is what will make you different from the others. When you are motivated, you tend to put on “extras” on your life like extra time for family, extra help at work, extra care for friends, and so on.

Y – You are unique. No one in this world looks, acts, or talks like you. Value your life and existence, because you’re just going to spend it once.

Z-  Zero in on your dreams and go for it!!!

Smile Your Way To Success!

Hi,

I thought you might like to see the cover of the book Peter Sinclair and I collaborated on…Smile Your Way To Success. Peter fed me the idea that some negative words were always trying to get into your head. I came up with this idea to repell them!

Smile Your Way To Success catoon book cover.

Motivational cartoon to illustrate ‘You’d Better Start Living Now!’

Taken from a book first published in 1972 titled THE MAGIC OF PSYCHIC POWER by David J Schwartz (One of the first self development books I purchased and ruined by scribbling in the margins! It might have been worth a few quid/dollars!?)
AS A STARTER, COMMIT THESE CONCEPTS TO MEMORY

1. Eighty percent of everything good -happiness, love, money, peace of mind
-is owned by twenty percent or less of the people.

2. The one person in five who has four marbles in five
has no better advantages in terms of intelligence, education, luck, or opportunity. He leads the pack because he controls his psychic power.

3. The multitude of mediocre people commit seven deadly psychic sins. They are

(a) Let other people run their lives
(b) Blame luck for their bad breaks
(c) Underestimate their potential
(d) Surrender to fear instead of conquering it
(e) Fail to set clear goals
(f) Fail to learn how to persuade other people
(g) Think defeat instead of think victory

REASON # 9 – You worry more about job security,
than how happy you are.

Reason09

Job security is all in your mind.

How do you know that the company you work for will be around
in a year’s time, let alone ten year’s time? If you dread
waking up on a Monday morning…

– Find a different job, or
– Find a way to supplement your income so that you can leave
and do what you would really love to do.

I went against my wife and family and quit my job, despite
having no savings. I quit to do this. It’s what I want to do
with my life. Period.

Two years ago, I was counting the years to I retired at 60
with a full two-thirds pension. So what changed?

I changed…because the world won’t.

I decided that I couldn’t be unhappy for 40+ hours a week
…I decided that I wanted to see my family grow up…I
decided that I wanted to help my wife more with our
disabled son.

I decided to do what I wanted to do…and not what society
expects me to do. That’s why I wrote my eBook –
“The Science of Success”

I had a good career…with a decent salary. But I realised
that we are here to enjoy life…and not to struggle with
life. I have seen enough miserable people who work 70+
hours a week and have a fantastic salary…yet their kids
hardly know them.

It’s your life…and you only get one shot at it.

So you might as well enjoy it!

I hope that this part of the report has shown you
that there are more ways to be a success, other than what
can be measured in monetary terms.

REASON # 2 – You can never imagine yourself as a success.

black/white cartoon of boxer shouting 'I am the greatest!' His dog is saying 'He was and so can you be if you imagine yourself as a success!'

Successful people always have a vision of where they want to
be in the future.

Can you imagine yourself living the life of luxury in Monte
Carlo or on a yacht in the Caribbean?

Didn’t think you could.

Most people (apart from the successful ones) have a vision
of under-achievement. They never believe that they could
possibly be millionaires, or live a life like a famous role
model.

I call this “Oh Well” thinking. You always hear yourself say
“Oh Well…it will never happen for me” or “Oh Well…she’s
luckier than me anyway”.

Think like a winner…and you will become a winner.

Look at the example of one of the greatest boxers of all
time – Muhammad Ali. You probably remember his catchphrase.
The thing was…he even said it when he was starting out and
was plain old Cassius Clay…

Tips For Achieving Goals!

Do you have long-term projects with short-term expectations?  If you do, that is a sure path to frustration and failure.

Lifestyle goals such as exercise and healthy diet have to become habits in order to be effective.  Career change also takes time and planning, and it doesn’t happen overnight.

Your world has shifted.  There’s voice mail, e-mail, pagers, and faxes that have made a “waiting” period unacceptable and almost obsolete.  With information immediately available, we expect relationships and goal achievement to be done the same.  As you read this you know that it is unreasonable to expect that, don’t you?  We’ve been led by advertisers to believe that we deserve immediate gratification, and that it is readily and effortlessly available!

When you want to train a puppy, you know that it’s going to take time and consistent reinforcement.  You’re ready for that, because you want your puppy to behave in an acceptable way.  Why then, are you so patient with the puppy and so hard on yourself?

When you plant seeds in the garden, you tend them, water them, hope for sunlight and nurture them.  Are you nurturing yourself?

The best way to move gently and effectively towards your goals is to take a reasonable approach.  Break your long-term project goal into sub-goals.  Break it into doable, short-term chunks.  Today prepare the soil; tomorrow plant the seeds.

Break Your Big Goal Down Into Managable Small Chunks!

Break Your Big Goal Down Into Managable Small Chunks!

Each action you take and each step is satisfying because you know that it is contributing to the completion of your goal.  You cannot rush Mother Nature with your garden, and the same is true for your goals.

This process is much more than “bloom where you’re planted”, because when you’re the gardener you choose what to plant and how to nurture it.  Do the same for yourself, and grow yourself beautifully.  Your goals will be accomplished in due time, and you won’t end up up-tight and frazzled.
