And as usual, here are some of my favourite quotes on ‘beliefs‘….
The path of least resistance and least trouble is a mental rut already made. It requires troublesome work to undertake the alternation of old beliefs. – John Dewey
When you believe “I can do it,” the “how to do it” develops. – David Schwartz
“Nobody will believe in you unless you believe in yourself. ” — Liberace
“Yes, you can be a dreamer and a doer too, if you will remove one word from your vocabulary: impossible.” — Robert Schuller
“To grow, you must be willing to let your present and future be totally unlike your past. Your history is not your destiny.” — Alan Cohen
Are you a leader or a follower?
Here are some great motivational and inspirational quotes on leadership – then a cartoon strip to finish off…
An army of a thousand is easy to find, but, ah, how difficult to find a general. Chinese proverb
Leadership is not magnetic personality—that can just as well be a glib tongue. It is not “making friends and influencing people”—that is flattery. Leadership is lifting a person’s vision to higher sights, the raising of a person’s performance to a higher standard, the building of a personality beyond its normal limitations. – Peter Drucker
The most important quality in a leader is that of being acknowledged as such.
– Andre Maurois
Leadership consists not in degrees of technique but in traits of character; it requires moral rather than athletic or intellectual effort, and it imposes on both leader and follower alike the burdens of self-restraint.
– Lewis H. Lapham
A leader is most effective when people barely know he exists. When his work is done, his aim fulfilled, his troops will feel they did it themselves. Lao Tzu
I have become my own version of an optimist. If I can’t make it through one door, I’ll go through another door – or I’ll make a door. Something terrific will come no matter how dark the present. – Rabindranath Tagore
If they can make penicillin out of moldy bread, they can sure make something out of you. – Muhammed Ali
A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty. – Winston Churchill
Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence. – Helen Keller
A pessimist sees only the dark side of the clouds, and mopes; a philosopher sees both sides, and shrugs; an optimist doesn’t see the clouds at all – he’s walking on them. – Leonard Louis Levinson
“Don’t make excuses. Make things happen. Make changes. Then make history.” – Doug Hall
“Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
“If you don’t make things happen then things will happen to you.” – Robert Collier
“Success, happiness, peace of mind and fulfillment – the most priceless of human treasures – are available to all among us, without exception, who make things happen – who make “good” things happen – in the world around them” – Joe Klock
Here’s a few motivational quotes on the subject of ‘jobs’…
I feel sorry for the person who can’t get genuinely excited about his work. Not only will he never be satisfied, but he will never achieve anything worthwhile. Walter Chrysler
In business, I loved cars. I couldn’t wait to get to work in the morning. Only in America can you decide to get a good education and pursue what you like. Lee Iacocca
What is it that you like doing? If you don’t like it, get out of it, because you’ll be lousy at it. You don’t have to stay with a job for the rest of your life, because if you don’t like it you’ll never be successful in it. Lee Iacocca
I’m lucky. I’m the luckiest guy in the world. I never really had a job. I was a football player, then a football coach, then a football broadcaster. It’s been my life. Pro football has been my life since 1967. I’ve enjoyed every part of it. Never once did it ever feel like work. John Madden
If you treat staff as your equal, they’ll roll their sleeves up to get the job done. John Ilhan
When commissioning cartoons… Pick TWO of the three options!
Good+Fast = Expensive Choose this and I’ll postpone every other project on my drawing board, my round of golf or give up my footy match ticket and work day and night to get your job done. It WILL NOT BE CHEAP though!
Good+Cheap = Slow Choose good and cheap and I’ll still do a great job at a discounted price. But you’ll have to be patient while I fit you in after my higher paying clients, updating my web site, going down the gym, my footy matches, rounds of golf and liquid lunches!
Fast+Cheap = Inferior Choose this option at your peril. It will still be delivered on time but it will be inferior, as many corners as possible will be cut. You know the saying ‘You get what you pay for!’ The least favorable option in my opinion!
