You’ve got to PERSIST longer than the others!

I had to persist to become the freelance cartoonist that I’ve been for 27 years. In my early attempts rejection after rejection of my cartoons nearly broke me – I thought of quitting many times.(But only for a few seconds!) Whatever you want in life you can get it but it won’t come easy and it won’t come without heart ache. But if you persevere you’ll get there!

Here’s some of my favourite persistence/perseverence quote….

Making your mark on the world is hard. If it were easy, everybody would do it. But it’s not. It takes patience, it takes commitment, and it comes with plenty of failure along the way. The real test is not whether you avoid this failure, because you won’t. it’s whether you let it harden or shame you into inaction, or whether you learn from it; whether you choose to persevere. Barack Obama

Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all. Dale Carnegie

I know the price of success: dedication, hard work, and an unremitting devotion to the things you want to see happen. Frank Lloyd Wright

Some men give up their designs when they have almost reached the goal; While others, on the contrary, obtain a victory by exerting, at the last moment, more vigorous efforts than ever before. Herodotus

Success depends on your backbone, not your wishbone. Unknown

Success seems to be connected with action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don’t quit. Conrad Hilton

As long as we are persistence in our pursuit of our deepest destiny, we will continue to grow. We cannot choose the day or time when we will fully bloom. It happens in its own time. Denis Waitley

No problem can stand the assault of sustained thinking. – Voltaire

Problems are to the mind what exercise is to the muscles, they toughen and make strong. – Norman Vincent Peale

When a problem comes along, study it until you are completely knowledgeable. Then find that weak spot, break the problem apart, and the rest will be easy.           – Norman Vincent Peale

Believe it is possible to solve your problem. Tremendous things happen to the believer. So believe the answer will come. It will. – Norman Vincent Peale(Again! Clever guy our Norman!)

Are your brakes stopping you moving forward!?

“Even though you may want to move forward in your life, you may have one foot on the brakes. In order to be free, we must learn how to let go. Release the hurt. Release the fear. Refuse to entertain your old pain. The energy it takes to hang onto the past is holding you back from a new life. What is it you would let go of today?”

Mary Manin Morrissey

Where is YOUR focus?

I came across this quote this morning which I thought was apt – was thinking a little negative yesterday!

“When you focus on what’s wrong, you get more of what’s wrong. Conversely, when you focus on what’s right, you get more of what’s right.”
Gina Mollicone-Long

New Years Resolution/Goal reminder!

I came across this quote that I liked – sort of going with any New Year Resolutions you’ve recently made…

“An unwritten want is a wish, a dream, a never-happen. The day you put your goal in writing is the day it becomes a commitment that will change your life. Are you ready?”
Tom Hopkins

Motivational quote by Norman Vincent Peale

“You only lose energy when life becomes dull in your mind. Your mind gets bored and therefore tired of doing nothing. Get interested in something! Get absolutely enthralled in something! Get out of yourself! Be somebody! Do something. The more you lose yourself in something bigger than yourself, the more energy you will have.”

Norman Vincent Peale
