REASON # 11 – You have something that you have
always wanted to do, but never got around to doing
it. And you know you never will.
I always wanted to do what I am doing now…I just didn’t
realise it.
Now I am fulfilling my dream, against all the odds. Many
people I know wish that they could do this…or do that…
but they always somehow find an excuse why they can’t.
Everybody has an interest, hobby, or skill that they could
happily get lost in for a few hours. If you think that you
may not…you are probably not thinking hard enough!
The key to finding out what it is you really love to do is
to ask yourself this question –
“What thing would you happily pay to be able to do?”
If “watch TV” is the answer…you’ll have to try harder!
Sometimes…you may not even realise that you are doing it.
For example…I have a good friend of mine who is a good
talker…he could strike up a conversation with a passer-by
within 2 seconds of meeting them. It’s a talent that comes
naturally to him.
To me…he’s an ideal
– Network marketer
– Salesman
– Real estate agent
Or any number of occupations where “relationshipping” is the
key to getting on and being successful.
If he worked in one of those fields…I am sure that he
would be a success. Instead…he just ‘treads water’ in a
job that pays him well but he gets nothing from it.
All he needs is a job where he gets paid to talk!
Look into how you might be able to make a living from your
talent. Someone, somewhere must make money doing something
similar to what you like to do.
Make sure that if you really want to do something, turn the
‘but’ into a ‘how’ and go for it!
Hi, I came across this quote today. It reminded me of when I did some cartoons for a possible client who then totally changed their minds and decided to use photos. I was annoyed to say the least. But the thought maybe I could show these cartoons someone else!? I did find someone who loved the cartoons and they bought them – the great thing about this is I’m still working for this client 8 years later. Better or what!?
I have quite a few obstacles that are causing me some grief at the moment. So instead of buckling it to them I decided face them head on. Here’s a few quotes that helped me get my head around them…
Most of our obstacles would melt away if, instead of cowering before them, we should make up our minds to walk boldly through them. – Orison Swett Marden
Overcoming Obstacles!
Press on. Obstacles are seldom the same size tomorrow as they are today.- Robert H. Schuller
Life’s up and downs provide windows of opportunity to determine your values and goals. Think of using all obstacles as stepping stones to build the life you want. – Marsha Sinetar
If you find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn’t lead anywhere.- Frank A. Clark
It still holds true that man is most uniquely human when he turns obstacles into opportunities. – Eric Hoffer
History has demonstrated that the most notable winners usually encountered heartbreaking obstacles before they triumphed. They won because they refused to become discouraged by their defeats.- B. C. Forbes

Here’s some of my favorite VL quotes about Winning, Winners…
***Winning is not a sometime thing; it’s an all time thing. You don’t win once in a while, you don’t do things right once in a while, you do them right all the time. Winning is habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.
Win Win Win!
***We would accomplish many more things if we did not think of them as impossible.
***Winning isn’t everything, but the will to win is everything.
***People who work together will win, whether it be against complex football defenses, or the problems of modern society.
***The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.
We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak.
I can’t remember who that quote was by – but he was certainly right 110%! Here’s a cartoon of a good listener and some quotes that I found while surfing around…
Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.
Winston Churchill
Listening well is as powerful a means of communication and influence as to talk well.
John Marshall
Listening well is as powerful a means of communication and influence as to talk well.
John Marshall
The greatest motivational act one person can do for another is to listen.
Roy E. Moody
When commissioning cartoons… Pick TWO of the three options!
Good+Fast = Expensive Choose this and I’ll postpone every other project on my drawing board, my round of golf or give up my footy match ticket and work day and night to get your job done. It WILL NOT BE CHEAP though!
Good+Cheap = Slow Choose good and cheap and I’ll still do a great job at a discounted price. But you’ll have to be patient while I fit you in after my higher paying clients, updating my web site, going down the gym, my footy matches, rounds of golf and liquid lunches!
Fast+Cheap = Inferior Choose this option at your peril. It will still be delivered on time but it will be inferior, as many corners as possible will be cut. You know the saying ‘You get what you pay for!’ The least favorable option in my opinion!
