10 Tips On How To Overcome The Fear Of Heights…

1. You must have a willingness to overcome the fear of heights. Determination to succeed is vital. If you really want to conquer the fear of heights you’re half way there already.

2. Talk to the following people about why they feel confident at heights. Find out what helps them to do this. Examples include window cleaners, construction workers, tree fellers, linesmen, rock climbers, mountaineers, crane drivers, etc. Ask them why they don’t have a fear of heights? Find someone to help you – you must trust their judgement.

3. Consider the worse case scenario – if you’re enclosed in a tall building what can happen to you? Simple: Nothing! If you’re on the first step of a ladder, what can happen to you? Not a lot!

4. Start on a small height and slowly get comfortable with that, then go a little higher and higher and higher. You don’t have to do these all the in same day. Baby steps! And don’t forget to get yourself a big pat on the back when you’ve achieved each stage.

5. Desensitization – a slow step-by-step process. Example going up a ladder one step at a time. Then higher the next day.

6. Get Hypnotized! Get a licensed professional hypnotist. They will present the information about your fear to your subconscious mind so that when you are awakened, you will no longer have a fear of heights. It may take a few sessions, but you have to believe!

7. Relaxation techniques can help you deal with your fear of heights without actually getting to the root of your fear. These might include deep breathing exercises, yoga or muscle relaxation, where you ignore the fact that you are at a height you don’t like.

8. Virtual reality exposure therapy,  you are exposed to a virtual version of your fear of heights. This might be a video of the top of the Empire Building.

9. Try to find out the reason for your fear. Did someone scare you when you were small? Discuss the condition with your close ones, a counselor, health professional, or someone who can help you work through the underlying reasons.

10. When looking down from a big height, grasp railings or fences to build a sense of safety and security in that position.

All the adversity I’ve had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles, have strengthened me… You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you.  ~ Walt Disney

We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths. ~Walt Disney

Only Positive Attitudes Beyond This Point!

You’ve got to have a positive attitude no matter what you’re doing!

-William James

– Martha Washington

It’s all about having a positive attitude…

To be a great champion you must believe you are the best. If you’re not, pretend you are.” -Muhammad Ali

“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense.”  — Ralph Waldo Emerson

This is how having a positive attitude works: “Two men look out the same prison bars; one sees mud and the other stars.” Frederick Langbridge

I thought you might like to see the cover of the book Peter Sinclair and I collaborated on…Smile Your Way To Success. Keep them out at all costs – even if it means wearing a cast iron helmet! The book is about 100 pages with a short motivational article and cartoon on each page.

This is one of around 100 short pieces that Peter Sinclair wrote and I illustrated with motivational cartoons from a book titled: Smile Your Way Yo Success!

Limbs encased in plaster and then suddenly released from their dark enclosure need a lot of exercise before they can get back into normal operation. So too are your talents, your mind and your imagination if you for some reason have neglected them. Many dreams have passed on with their owners to the grave through lack of use, but yet you can breathe fresh life into yours by rehearsing them in your mind and by living them out in your daily affairs. Once you have identified your strengths, then strengthen them through consistent use.

By doing this you will not lose. You will win. Written by Peter Sinclair of: http://www.motivationalmemo.com
