Defeat is a state of mind- Bruce Lee

“Defeat is a state of mind. No one is ever defeated until defeat has been accepted as reality. To me, defeat in anything is merely temporary, and its punishment is but an urge for me to greater effort to achieve my goal. Defeat simply tells me that something is wrong in my doing; it is a path leading to success and truth.”

Bruce Lee 1940-1973, Martial Artist, Actor and Author

Cartoon – The First Steps To Success!

Here’s an excerpt from Ryan Blair’s 100 Day Challenge – the cartoon is mine and doesn’t appear in the transcript…

We all know that the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step and the same holds true for the 100 Day Challenge.
The goal choices you make today set the pace (fast) as well as the tone (playing to win), and the actions you take today determine both your direction and destiny.
To ensure a good start, you must take that bold first step, you must identify three achievable goals and you must pursue victory throughout the day. You must start the day fast and finish the day strong.
You must have the conviction that the purpose of setting a goal must be to achieve it, as there is no purer form of success, no more exact and exacting test of what you are capable of than to seize every opportunity, and achieve everything you set out to do.

Don’t Make This Success Mistake – by Mike Litman!

Here’s another piece I loved from Mike Litman’s blog…

Every level of income demands a different you.

Each level of income demands different habits and actions.
The key is to start, grow, persevere, and become MORE.
***Every level of income demands a different you.

Life is a continuous growing process!

Who do you need to be to make the MONEY and LIFE you desire?
Remember, you don’t have to get it right, you just have to get it going.
Get going. Make your goals smaller and bring greater momentum into your life.
Celebrate your small victories.
You can DO IT. You can.

Cartoon for the Attractor Factor piece by Joe Vitale…

I’ve read quite a few of Joe Vitale’s books and he’s inspired many cartoons.

Here’s a piece from the Attractor Factor…

Here’s a secret that may surprise you: When you
want something, but can live without having it,
you have upped the odds of your having it.

This is one of the ironies of life. As long as you are play-
fully desiring something, but not addicted to your having it,
the universe will most likely quickly bring it to you.

But as soon as you say, “I must have this,” you begin to
push it away.

Why?

Because you are sending out an energy to repel what you
say you want.

Because you are focused on need and not in the moment.

Because you haven’t learned the ultimate secret….

Let Go.

Whatever your goal – DON’T QUIT!

Taken from my favourite book – THINK AND GROW

RICH by Napolean Hill…

One of the most common causes of failure is the habit
of quitting when one is overtaken by temporary
defeat. Every person is guilty of this mistake at one
time or another.
An uncle of R. U. Darby was caught by the ‘gold
fever’ in the gold-rush days, and went west to DIG
AND GROW RICH. He had never heard that more gold has
been mined from the brains of men than has ever been
taken from the earth. He staked a claim and went to
work with pick and shovel. The going was hard, but
his lust for gold was definite.
After weeks of labor, he was rewarded by the
discovery of the shining ore. He needed machinery to
bring the ore to the surface. Quietly, he covered up
the mine, retraced his footsteps to his home in
Williamsburg, Maryland, told his relatives and a few
neighbors of the ‘strike.’ They got together money
for the needed machinery, had it shipped. The uncle
and Darby went back to work the mine.
The first car of ore was mined, and shipped to a
smelter. The returns proved they had one of the
richest mines in Colorado! A few more cars of that
ore would clear the debts. Then would come the big
killing in profits.
Down went the drills! Up went the hopes of Darby and
Uncle! Then something happened! The vein of gold ore
disappeared! They had come to the end of the rainbow,
and the pot of gold was no longer there! They drilled
on, desperately trying to pick up the vein again— all
to no avail.
Finally, they decided to QUIT.
They sold the machinery to a junk man for a few
hundred dollars, and took the train back home. Some
‘junk’ men are dumb, but not this one! He called in a
mining engineer to look at the mine and do a little
calculating. The engineer advised that the project
had failed, because the owners were not familiar with
‘fault lines.’ His calculations showed that the vein
would be found JUST THREE FEET FROM WHERE THE DARBYS
HAD STOPPED DRILLING! That is exactly where it was
found!
The ‘Junk’ man took millions of dollars in ore from
the mine, because he knew enough to seek expert
counsel before giving up.

You Are What You Think!

Here’s an extract from Jason Gracia’s book Motivated in Minutes.

It has 1001 tips and ideas to help you get motivated – it’s a gold mine

for cartoon ideas as well!

Here’s one…

YOU Are What YOU Think…

This is one of the most important lessons you will learn about motivation. If you learn nothing else from this book, walk away with an appreciation for this idea. An example will help to demonstrate the point. Imagine that you want to write a book. Before you chose this goal, you rarely heard anything mentioned about the topic. The next day, after you have decided to write a book, it’s on your mind constantly. You notice an ad on television for writers, your ears perk up when an author is on the radio, and when your friend talks about writing a book, you become interested immediately.

You see, when you think of something you begin to see the world in a different light. Before I became involved in motivation, I rarely heard the word. Now that I have dedicated years to the topic, I see, hear, read, and think of the word hundreds of times a day. It is all because of what I chose to think about. Remember, it works the other way as well. If you choose to think negatively, you will see examples all around you that reinforce your negative and damaging thoughts. You are what you think, so think the right things.
